"How beautifully strange indeed"
Romeo and Juliet- on the backdrop of the 1970s
In Fair Verona Grove, where we lay our scene......
Verona Grove is a playground for the rich. Just 45 miles from San Francisco Bay, its the perfect place to live in reclusively away from the conflict the decade brings to the city. The wealthy wine heirs of Italian descent, spend their days rolling in the prosperity of the American Dream. Marked by 5 famillie's, the streets itself are a warzone- of the feuding Cappello and Montgomery famillie's.
Romy Cappello has a lot on her mind. 17, plucky and courageous, her dreams of breaking free to fight for the rights of women, are put at halt by the boundaries of her society.
She's a pawn to her parents game, and she's had enough. Aided by the members of NOW, her best friend Emilia and her beloved Maria, Romy feels the walls closing in on her. Freedom was only ever a concept, until the night of her fathers annual 1 million dollar fiasco. Where she meets the enigmatic Julian Montgomery.
Paradise isn't an easy place to get too- and the course of their story, will make paradise itself completely fictional.
There's the Vietnam War! There's Bob Dylan! There's flares and disco dances! There's feminism and protest! There's Freidan and Steinem!
For fans of West Side Story and Love Story , its the star crossed lovers reimagined.
